Signs of Stress

What is stress? - People often refer to being 'stressed-out' when they feel unable to cope with their particular combination of work / life pressures, e.g.: when the amount to do won't fit into the hours in the day, and your energy just won't stretch any further.. sound familiar?

In the short term - finding yourself in your stress zone can be quite positive. The 'fight or flight' rush of adrenalin designed to get you out of a threatening situation increases your heart rate & breathing and provides the motivation & excitement for the new challenge. You may feel a little nauseous, but the reward of achieving the challenge mostly outweighs the internal quiver.

Longer term - being in your stress zone for sustained periods can start to affect your everyday life, and your health will begin to suffer e.g. excessive tiredness, headaches, frequent colds and aches & pains. You may feel overwhelmed, helpless, anxious, and end up achieving less. Your ill health will mean time off work, or emotionally you may feel unable to go to work and become withdrawn. Stress not only affects your life and your health, the ripples reach into your family, friends, work and so on.

Identify stress and do something about it - Be aware of the signs, it is sometimes easier to spot in other people than yourself. My treatments provide time out to be in your own space and de-stress your life as well as many other benefits.
